Maybelline Master Strobing Stick | Illuminating Highlighter

Highlight is something I haven't experimented a lot with and it was only last year that I thought to try them! A have tried a few but so far my favourite has been the Maybelline Master Strobing Stick Illuminating Highlighter. I picked this up at Priceline for around $15 quite a few months back. As far as I know there are two shades available, Light-Iridescent which is a pearly pink and Medium-Nude Glow which is a more champaign shade. I went for Nude Glow as I personally prefer a champaign highlight with my skin tone.

I quite like the packaging, it's sturdy and clicks closed. The name of the shade is clearly placed on both the top and base of the making it easy to see. Compared to the packaging there is actually a small amount of product. That's probably the only thing I wish I could change, other than that I'm impressed. Keeping in mind I don't have too many highlighting products to compare it to, I still love how this appears on my skin.

The formula is super creamy and easy to blend out. I generally use the tip of my finger to apply with a dabbing motion. I don't find this highlighter glittery and that's a good thing, it has lovely fine shimmer throughout creating that glowy look. I usually like my makeup to be soft and natural. Occasionally I'll glam it up a tiny bit, but for the most part I try to keep my base makeup soft and subtle. This illuminating highlighter allows me to do both and I love that. It's definitely buildable if you prefer a highlight that pops. I'm very impressed with the longetivity as it wears nicely for a good 5-6 hours. Sometime's a little less depending on what foundation I wear.

I tried taking some photos of swatches and hopefully they're not too bad, I'm still working on it!

Overall I'm very pleased with this highlighter and would not hesitate to repurchase it. Thank you for reading! xx

Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet 'So Hap'pink'

Hello lovely, today's post is all about the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Liquid Matt Lipstick in the shade So Hap'pink. Generally I like to use lip colours that are neutral or soft pink. I've started to adventure a little more into darker shades, but never do I go for a bright vibrant shade. When I purchased this shade I was expecting it to be a slightly neutral pink. On my lips it appears more like a bright pink, but not like a barbie pink. It's brighter than the shades I had previously worn but still wearable on my skin tone. I should also mention that when I began wearing this lipstick I would simply use the applicator and swipe it over my lips. I then discovered that if I used my finger afterwards to somewhat blend it out it appeared much more flattering. That's something I do with most lip products now as it just works better in my personal opinion.

This is supposed to be a lipstick with a matt finish and although it dries down matt it doesn't feel tight on my lips. It's actually quite comfortable to wear. However, this product doesn't have a very long wear time. I feel like this doesn't last that long on my lips, maybe 1-2 hours. The packaging makes it easy to bring along in my purse anyway if I want to reapply. If I have dry lips before applying it can look a bit patchy, so I make sure to either use a lip balm or the NYX lip primer. If I have a lip balm on it applies nicely and doesn't fade off patchy (again, only if I've used a balm or primer under). More on the packaging, I actually really like it. The screw on lid is great as I don't have to worry about it accidentally slipping off. I like that it's simple, sleek and just visually appealing.

The consistency is soft and almost like mousse. I'm not entirely sure how to describe this texture, it's kind of airy and not at all liquidy. It's very smooth to apply. I found that if I dot the product on the centre of both my top and bottom lip then use my finger to blend it out, the finish ends up being quite gorgeous! Now that I've found the best way to apply this product I might look at trying some other shades. I got mine when I was in Switzerland but I know they sell them in Priceline for $19.20. I couldn't find this particular shade online anymore but I haven't checked in stores yet. They do however stock a nice range of shades.

Let me know in the comments if you have any recommendations! xx
